Ye Shen is a Dean’s Diversity Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Education and Human Ecology. Her research aims to understand how to best serve the 12 million school-age, language-minority children in the United States. To this end, she examines the cognitive and neurobiological mechanisms underlying bilingual and biliteracy development, as well as the external factors (e.g., subtractive educational programming, socioeconomic status) that impact bilingual and biliteracy development. Her work lies at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, and education. She relies on both behavioral and neuroimaging measures to study the cross-linguistic, cross-modal processes underlying multilingual development.
